This is R’s ‘CADD-Prizm VIP Model 6101 Ambulatory Infusion Pump’.  We call him ‘Tate’, for short.  Tate will accompany R everywhere she goes from now until she gets a new heart.  He is not too hard to take care of – just a new 9V battery every day and a bag of new meds for him to pump. Other than that, he flashes a slow green light and makes a very quiet little gurgle every few seconds. Truth be told, we actually have two Tates – one is active and with R and the other is in the box waiting for duty tomorrow.  We swap the two back and forth each day – they back each other up.
